ABOUT USRussell Prior, Owner: I started my woodworking career in California in 1978 working for a small custom cabinet shop. I moved up the ladder advancing to different shops which continually honed my woodworking skills for almost 20 years. After my success, I decided it was time to open my own cabinet shop. I operated this business for 8 years working many a long night to keep my customers happy and the product going out the door. I learned that many contractors were failing to provide basic customer service, which includes prompt return of phone calls, detailed written estimates, and the manufacturing of a quality product. At that point, it was my mission to provide all of my customers with those missing aspects. The work I performed was mostly custom work, which included a lot of high-end work. It also gave me the opportunity to work for former employers who had a difficult time finding qualified craftsman to build their custom work. In 2000 through 2001, I worked for the author Dean Koontz indirectly through a former employer. The work was high-end casework, custom library casework, theatre marquee boxes, and custom moldings, all using exotic hardwoods. When this particular project was completed, it was photographed and published in a west coast magazine dedicated to the woodworking industry. It also received awards from a major professional woodworking organization which was used to monitor licensed cabinetmakers for quality control.
